Pressrelease: Mega-order Q-Pall: Delivery of one million sustainable pallets for the Dutch beverage industry begins

Veghel/Balk, May 24, 2023 –Today, in Balk, the first plastic pallet from Q-Pall for Drankenpallet Beheer Nederland was ceremoniously produced. At least one million pallets made from recycled plastic will be produced at the Frisian factory. This represents the largest order for Q-Pall in the Netherlands since its establishment in 2005

Drankenpallet Beheer Nederland (DPB) is the pallet pool for the Dutch beverage industry, with nearly all Dutch breweries, many soft drink manufacturers, and canned food manufacturers being tenants of DPB.

Circular ambitions

"We are very pleased with the collaboration," said Christiaan Hamminga, Director of Dranken Pallet Beheer Nederland. "Q-Pall is constantly looking for ways to improve their products, has a highly modern production location with excellent quality service and short communication lines. Through these short lines and production in the Netherlands, we can act quickly. This ensures high-quality pallets that are made from recycled material and contribute to our circular ambitions."

Robust, lightweight, strong, and sustainable

"We are incredibly proud that, as a Dutch company, we have been entrusted with the opportunity to develop and produce the pallet for almost the entire Dutch beverage industry," explained Bjorn Oosterhof, co-founder and director of Q-Pall. "Through joint development with DPB, we have created a robust pallet that is lightweight yet strong and sustainable. Extensive research and development preceded this. Moreover, they are made over 99 percent from so-called secondary raw materials such as old crates, caps, and other plastic waste, thereby making a direct contribution to the global plastic issue. Truly circular."

About Q-Pall

Q-Pall is a producer and distributor of plastic pallets established in 2005. The company focuses on developing innovative, reusable plastic pallets through innovation in design, recycling, and production. The pallets consist of over 99 percent recycled material.

Q-Pall's headquarters are located in Veghel. The company currently produces over 3.1 million pallets per year in more than 150 variants across five different locations in Europe. To reduce carbon footprint, CO2 emissions, and costs, Q-Pall has chosen a strategy from the start where recycled plastic is sourced as close to the factories as possible, and the pallets are produced as close to the customer as possible. This is because, on average, 80 percent of the CO2 emissions associated with plastic pallets come from transportation. The production locations are in the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, France, and Spain.

Through local production and a dealer network in 24 countries in Europe and the United States, Q-Pall delivered a truckload of plastic pallets every thirty minutes in 2022. This resulted in a revenue of over 40 million euros.
